Mientras en muchas partes del mundo le cierran las puertas, a raíz de las restricciones impuestas en su contra por el gobierno de Estados Unidos, a Huawei se le acaba de abrir una inesperada oportunidad en América Latina.
El jueves por la noche, el presidente de Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, anunció una «inversión inmediata» en tecnología junto a esta empresa tecnológica china para instalar la red móvil 4G en todo el territorio venezolano.
«He ordenado hacer una inversión inmediata junto a nuestros hermanos chinos, y la tecnología de China, la tecnología de Huawei, de ZTE, y de todas las empresas chinas y de todas las empresas rusas, para nosotros elevar las capacidades de todo el sistema de comunicaciones y hacer realidad el sistema 4G», dijo el mandatario en un acto en Caracas.
Maduro criticó las medidas tomadas por el gobierno de Donald Trump, quien esta semana prohibió a las empresas estadounidenses hacer negocios con Huawei, a la que acusa de intentar espiar a su país.
En la práctica, las medidas estadounidenses implican que los celulares de la compañía china no podrán disponer en el futuro de las apps de Google, pero además Huawei tampoco podrá adquirir de Estados Unidos piezas y componentes esenciales para la producción de su hardware y dispositivos.
